Cattle in an orchard, Pieter Gerardus van Os, ca. 1790 - ca. 1815
The Hague artist Pieter Gerardus van Os was inspired at a young age by the work of 17th-century artists. Especially the sheep and goats in the drawings and prints of Nicolaes Berchem and Karel du Jardin served him as an example. This detailed drawing was probably intended for loose sale. The artist coloured the sheet completely - almost like a painting - and also gave it a signature.
