Besides the colour version, I also like to take a black-and-white version of architecture photos's like this one. The Catedral de la Encarnación de Málaga is a highly detailed cathedral in Spanish Andalusia. By taking all the colour out of the photo, it becomes calmer and more contrasted so that it fits into almost any interior. Details are more visible due to the large difference in light and dark.
The photo shows the puerta del sol, or sun gate on the south side of Malaga cathedral. Despite its splendour, this door is only a lesser-known element of the church; the unfinished tower and the main entrance are much better known. There was very little room in the narrow alley to take the photo because the church is huge in height, but by merging several photos's in post-processing, we still managed to photograph this impressive work of art.
The cities around the Costa del Sol in Spain are best known for their Moorish architecture but in this cathedral, Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque architectural styles are all represented.
