Winter landscape in front of Boxmeer Castle. In the far east of Noord-Brabant, almost on the border with Germany, lies the castle named after the town of Boxmeer. The municipality has a rich history. As a seigniory, it was an independent state for centuries. The fortress is beautifully situated between the Meuse and the old arm of the lake. Over the centuries, it has been regularly besieged, destroyed and rebuilt.
