The buzzard (Buteo buteo) is a medium to large bird of prey from the hawk family. The buzzard is found in the largest part of Europe and parts of Asia. It is mainly a sedentary bird that winters in the same area as where it breeds, except in the coldest regions and in a few subspecies. It usually hunts in open country, but nests on forest edges. Normally its prey consists mainly of small mammals, amphibians (such as frogs) and small birds, but it is also occasionally a scavenger.
