View from the ferry from Culemborg - Schalwijk.
Veerbedrijf Mason has been taking care of the crossing of the river Lek between Culemborg and Schalkwijk/Houten since 1750. The Culemborg ferry is a slurry ferry, which means that the boat is pulled across the river by a cable, also called vultures. The yaw pontoons are supported by a diesel engine to get to the other side faster.
From Culemborg he departs at the marina on the Veerkade. From Schalkwijk the ferry departs from the Veerweg, a side road of the Lekdijk.
