Brown Fleet in the Mist – Tallships Kampen

by Fotografiecor .nl

This atmospheric photograph transports you straight to the tranquil world of historic sailing on the quayside in Kampen. The composition is defined by a complex web of wooden masts and taut rigging that cut graphically through the thick morning mist. The mysterious, monochrome colour palette enhances the intriguing interplay of lines and creates an impressive sense of spatial depth.

This work is a tangible piece of maritime history from the Hanseatic city of Kampen. As a photographer in this region, the ‘Bruine Vloot’ is, for me, inextricably linked to the River IJssel. It is the salty, crisp morning air and the gentle creaking of the wood in the harbour that I have sought to capture here; a moment of absolute tranquillity before the city awakens.

This image comes into its own particularly powerfully in an industrial or minimalist interior, where the focus is on lines and textures. The understated colour scheme provides a soothing focal point in a modern room. For this piece, I recommend a brushed aluminium finish to further accentuate the industrial look of the masts.

Bring the character of historic sailing into your home and add a timeless, graphic accent to your interior.
