About the artwork
This picture shows an abandoned corner of a building where nature is beginning to reclaim the dilapidated structure. A broken window, through which sunlight falls into the room, is at the centre of the scene. The shards of glass still hanging in the frame reflect the light and cast sharp shadows on the surroundings. Outside, dense foliage grows into the opening, hinting at how nature is reclaiming its space. The window's former protective barrier has been broken and the separation between inside and outside is slowly blurring.
On the windowsill stands an old, rusty metal container whose function lies in the past. The rust has eaten away at its surface, making it a symbol of decay and transience. The walls of the room are cracked and stained, marked by moisture and the weather, which penetrate through the destroyed window. In the corners, plants sprawl along the walls, their green leaves offering a sharp contrast to the rust and decay of the old building fabric.
This picture shows the fascinating transition between destruction and new life. It arouses the viewer's curiosity and invites them to reflect on the stories that this space once harboured before it was left to decay.
