About ‘Bringer of Happiness; geisha’ by Jolique Arte

In this enchanting painting, you encounter a geisha, dressed in a richly decorated kimono, surrounded by a sea of warm orange flowers. Her gaze is both modest and penetrating – as if she knows something that the viewer has yet to discover. Near her stands a crane (tsuru), elegant and serene, with its slender neck and white plumage.

In Japan, the crane is a powerful symbol of happiness, peace and long life. It represents loyalty and prosperity and is often seen as a spiritual protector. The intimate posture between the geisha and the bird suggests harmony between man and nature, between the earthly and the spiritual.
