Just imagine to watch some common kingfishers resting on a branch at a pond who are waiting to be fed!
As part of my project I planned a trip to a place where I knew some Common Kingfishers had a nest. Moreover, I knew that it was about time that their youngsters would leave the nest.
This morning , when hiding in a small shed, about five young kingfishers left their nest and followed their father to this pond and waited to be fed.
This image shows you four young/juvenile kingfishers and an adult male kingfisher lined up on a nice branch at the edge of a water pond.
The youngsters waiting for the adult to dive and fetch a fish and waiting to be fed. A very unique moment with so many young kingfishers lined up at the same branch and all eager for their breakfast.
The young kingfishers have lighter feathers, a short white tip on their beak and dark black/brown feed. The adult kingfishers have orange coloured feed. Kingfishers main food is fish.
Feeding their juveniles outside the nest is just for a couple of days and once they have learned to dive the adults will chase them away as to become independent.
A lovely image of a rare moment and a real eye-catcher at your wall!
