Sometimes silence seems heavier than sound. This rusty chain, half-sunken in earth, feels like a relic of a forgotten battle. The links are unwieldy, weathered, telling without words that they once had to hold something. Or someone. Whatever it was, it is long gone. What remains is this chain: symbol of bondage, of letting go that doesn't quite work out.
The atmosphere in this place was heavy, almost syrupy. As if time moved slower here. The smell of damp earth, rust and rotting wood filled the room. Light came filtering through a cracked window, soft and menacing at the same time. You could almost feel the weight of what was once here - and never finished.
This photograph invites you to stand still. To feel that unnameable, what you don't see but is there nonetheless. The story that may never be told.
