About ‘Bornrif lighthouse Ameland’ by Kjeld van den Heuvel

The lighthouse on Ameland was built in 1881, commissioned by King Willem III. The tower was designed by Quirinus Harder and was built by foundry Nering Bögel in Deventer. The individual segments were shipped to Ameland and placed on top of each other on site. The lighthouse is 55.3 meters high and has 15 floors. The staircase to the top has 236 steps, not including the steps to the top.

After World War II, a very weak emergency optic was temporarily placed on the tower. This gave the tower the name of twilight lamp. In 1952 this was replaced by an optic from the former lighthouse Westhoofd near Ouddorp. This light has a strength of 4,400,000 candelas.

In 1988, the old light house was replaced by a new one to carry a radar antenna. This old light house is now on the roof of the Maritime Centre Abraham Fock in Hollum.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
