The car is surprisingly manoeuvrable, very fast, desirably spacious, really economical and has an unsurpassable road-holding. In a word: Whoever owns it, the Borgward "Hansa 1500", is a lucky man. Olympic Summer Games Helsinki August 1952 This is how the first serial passenger car with 100 km/h max. from Borgward was advertised in the 50s and this was not an easy task. Because after the war it was always about material allocations and these were very scarce in the beginning. In the end only 33.841 units were produced over all Hansa 1500/1800 models, but who had the money for a car at that time? And at that time there were far more motorbikes, lorries and tractors in general road traffic and many a company was still making cooking pots out of steel helmets.
