This bare metal Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, owned by the Yankee Air Museum in Van Buren Township, Michigan, originally delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force in 1945. The aircraft did not participate in World War II; after the war, it flew for years with the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1986, the plane was bought by the museum and restored to its configuration as a World War II bomber. This beautiful shiny aircraft is regularly seen at airshows and enthusiasts can book sightseeing flights.
