This small bird with its striking colour is a true Dutch summer visitor. It arrives in spring and is then mainly found in reed beds. It likes to be seen and heard, giving photographers a good chance to capture it on film. And when they succeed, it really feels like a gift. Those colours! For me, one of the most beautiful birds in our country.
This photo was taken on a summery day at the Zevenhuizerplas in Rotterdam. I got a prime-show of this male, who was loudly singing his song in a willow tree. The green background makes his blue breast stand out.

It has opened up a new world for me.
This photo deserves a place on the wall of someone with a weakness for birds, bluethroats, nature or who just likes this photo. Who knows, maybe this photo will spark more interest in Dutch nature.
