The winter days in Norway are short, but that doesn't mean that all colour has disappeared. For a period of about 6 weeks the sun doesn't rise above the horizon on the island of Senja. For a number of weeks you can experience the so-called arctic blue light. This is a bluish twilight color that is very special. But in my opinion the most beautiful colours come out when the sun is almost above the horizon. The sunbeams are already shining high in the sky and on clear days they can color the sky intensely with the most beautiful colors such as orange, red, yellow and like here, pink/orange. If you have orcas in the neighbourhood the combination is almost surreal.
And after a nice afternoon nap and a warm meal you can go outside again to see if the Northern Lights have already announced themselves.
