About the artwork

Our workaway experience on a subsistence farm in the interior of Australia was an unforgettable experience. We had no mobile coverage and were immersed in a different environment than we are normally used to. During the weeks we stayed there, we worked with our host family on various projects needed to maintain the farm. For example, we helped pick fresh fruit, clean up work equipment and take care of the various animals on the farm, including cows, sheep and chickens. One of the most valuable lessons we learnt during our time on the farm was how important it is to live in balance with nature. Our host family taught us how they kept their farm self-sufficient and lived in a sustainable way. They used solar energy and rainwater to keep their farm running, and minimised their waste through recycling and composting - a beautiful large piece of land where the Walibis regularly stopped by to see what was going on.

Overall, our workaway experience on the farm was a super nice one.
