About ‘Big 5 - lion in rough drawing style - sunset in orange taupe and black’ by Emiel de Lange

This tough lion is part of my Big 5 sunset series. All five of these works share the same distinctive drawing style. Rugged lines, a warm colour palette with orange, taupe grey and black.

The sun is setting on the savannah and this lion still seems to enjoy the last rays of sunlight falling on its thick fur.

From a blank sheet to an imaginative sketch or drawing — that’s what I enjoy most about creating my artwork.

I also find it inspiring to think that my wall decorations can bring joy to others.

My favorite technique is charcoal drawing combined with chalk, which I then refine and elevate using digital illustration methods.

I hope my artworks spark your enthusiasm — and that one of my designs will soon find its place on your wall.
