This work shows a panorama along the Seine, where Paris reveals its literary side. The famous bouquinistes, the street vendors with the green wooden boxes, sell old books, posters, photographs and postcards. This quiet, lively cultural heritage has hardly changed over the decades - and yet it looks new every day.
Past and present come together in this picture. You don't just see stands, but also living stories: A worn spine of a book, a yellowed film poster, a ray of sunshine on a black and white photograph. This scene captures the typical Parisian attitude to life: decelerated, authentic and full of details.
The inspiration for this was a long walk on a cool morning, before the crowds had filled the banks. The scenery almost seemed to have fallen out of time. I didn't just want to document the picture, I also wanted to capture the atmosphere: The tranquillity, the rummaging, the soft rustling of paper in the wind.
The photograph was taken in natural light and gently edited to emphasise colours and textures. The work adds a touch of nostalgia and culture to rooms and is therefore perfect for bookworms, Paris lovers or fans of analogue aesthetics.
