About ‘Beneath the Surface’ by Maria Meester
An abstract oil painting featuring soft swathes of colour, grainy surfaces and layered textures. The shapes and colours are reminiscent of what lies beneath a surface: natural deposits, weathered structures or colours revealed through a layer of ice or water. The image leaves room for the viewer’s own associations.
