Battle of Terheide Beerstraten, Jan Abrahamsz. 1653 - 1666 Three naval wars with England were fought between 1652 and 1674. Here, the Battle of Terheide on 10 August 1653 is depicted. In the centre of the painting, the largest ship of the Dutch fleet, Admiral Maerten Harpertsz Tromp's Brederode, is sailing. It fires its cannons at an English ship.
