About ‘Banaue, harmony between man and nature’ by Frank Photos

Banaue, located in the mountainous Luzon region of the Philippines, is famous for its rice terraces carved out over 2,000 years ago by the ancestors of the Ifugao ethnic group. These spectacular landscapes, often referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world" bear witness to remarkable agricultural engineering and a profound respect for nature. Each terrace is irrigated by a complex network of canals, using resources from the surrounding mountains.
This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a unique immersion in local culture. The people of Banaue continue to cultivate rice in the traditional way, perpetuating age-old skills. Visitors can explore the winding paths that cross these vertiginous terraces, stopping to admire unforgettable views.
As well as the rice fields, the region also offers a range of enriching experiences: meet the locals in the ifugao villages, discover their handicrafts and traditional dances. Hiking enthusiasts can also explore the varied mountain landscapes and discover hidden waterfalls.
