De passie voor fotografie stamt uit mijn tienertijd. Met mijn compactcamera van 5 gulden schoot ik heel wat rolletjes vol. Op mijn vijftiende kocht ik van het met mijn krantenwijk bij elkaar gespaarde geld (en een donatie van mijn lieve ouders) mijn eerste spiegelreflexcamera, een Asahi Pentax K 1000, jaren later gevolgd door een aantal andere spiegelreflexcamera's. Een aantal jaren en twee geweldige zoons later besloot ik om de droom die ik al jaren had uit te laten…
