A cute newborn highlander cow is enjoying the evening sun. The in far attitude large ears make him look a bit like a teddy cow.
The photo was taken low to the ground and the calf looks curiously into the camera. The evening sun provides a lovely warm glow.
Highland cattle usually give birth in the spring. Early calves can be born as early as March, but April is the month that most cows give birth. For the first month, the mothers are extra protective when it comes to the little ones. After that, the calves get bigger and are already a little less protected - but the mothers remain alert!
