The B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range heavy bomber (capable of nuclear or conventional bombs) built by Boeing. Although a relic of the Cold War, and first deployed during the Vietnam War, the aircraft still plays an important role in U.S. Air Force operations. 40% of the bombs during Operation Desert Storm were dropped by B-52s.
Because of its appearance and destructive power, the aircraft was nicknamed BUFF, "Big Ugly Flying Fellow" or "Big Ugly Fat Fucker".
