About the artwork

The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a fascinating aquatic amphibian native to the ancient lake systems of Xochimilco in Mexico. Unlike most amphibians, axolotls retain their larval features throughout their entire lives — a condition known as neoteny. This means they keep their external gills and aquatic lifestyle, even as adults, giving them their signature cute, frilly appearance.

Axolotls are most famous for their remarkable regenerative abilities, capable of regrowing limbs, spinal cord, heart tissue, and even parts of their brain without scarring. This unique trait has made them a subject of intense scientific research in regenerative medicine.

With a wide variety of color morphs — including wild type, leucistic (pink with black eyes), albino, and melanoid — axolotls are also popular exotic pets. They require cool, clean, still water and a protein-rich diet to thrive.

Unfortunately, in the wild, axolotls are critically endangered due to habitat loss, pollution, and invasive species. Conservation efforts are ongoing to preserve this rare and enchanting creature, both in nature and through captive breeding programs.

The axolotl is not just an adorable animal — it’s a symbol of biodiversity, resilience, and the wonders of evolution.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
