About ‘Autumnal lake view’ by Holger Felix

One day in October, I was visiting the Baltic island of Usedom with my family. As we didn't just want to enjoy the sea and its light moods, we started to explore the Usedom hinterland. We came across the picturesque Wolgastsee lake near the imperial spa town of Ahlbeck. Although this body of water is only around 450 metres wide, it is still around 1.5 kilometres long, so we walked around the lake in just over two hours. Lake Wolgastsee lies in a hilly terminal moraine landscape and has its origins in the last great ice age, when the Baltic Sea as we know it today was formed and the ice melted. For us, the view was fantastic from a very marshy section of the shore, which was characterised by many dead trees across the lake to the colourful treetops of the forest opposite. Autumn showed itself in its most beautiful colours. An experience that will stay with you for a long time.
