About the artwork

Autumn scene - Trees in autumn light and migratory birds

The picture shows a typical autumn scene of trees that have already lost almost all their leaves, wilting reeds in the foreground and, against the dark clouds in the sky, a flight of geese heading for warmer places in the south.

The main theme in this picture is the trees in the middle. I am a great lover of trees and especially the white birch. This -always radiant tree- immediately caught my attention when I was looking for a nice composition. But also the other trees, e.g. the structure of the bare tree on the left, is fascinating.

I was at this spot late in the afternoon in November on a typical autumn day. Rain and sunshine alternated.
Having found this composition, I was treated to brilliant light as the sun broke through the clouds AND a flight of wild geese passed by on their way south!

It was a miracle in itself to be able to capture this scene.
The birds, I suspect, had not been on the road that long because they were still trying to find the right formation (not visible in the photo) and were flying west. A little later, the typical V formation was found and they turned south. I felt gratitude for being able to experience this. So beautiful.

The photo was taken with a Lumix S1R ( 47mp) and Telezoom lens at 90mm using a polarisation filter.
