During a colourful autumn day at Het Loo Palace Park in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, I came across this unusual scene. The pond lay still, and right in the middle was a small, black house reflected in the water. Surrounded by trees in shades of bright orange, warm yellow and vibrant green, it seemed as if the house had been specially erected to highlight this splash of colour. The soft afternoon light fell just right, giving the leaves a warm glow and the reflection in the water was almost perfect.
This moment felt to me like a painting coming to life. It was quiet except for the soft rustle of the autumn leaves, and the contrast between the dark simplicity of the cottage and the exuberant colours of nature touched me immediately. I had to stand for a moment to really take in the harmony and beauty of this place. This image shows how powerful simplicity can be, and I knew immediately that this was a photo that had to be shared.
Imagine how this work gives your space a warm, natural feel. Hang it in your living room, bedroom or office and bring the colours of autumn inside.
