About ‘Aurora over the snowy plain’ by KC Photography

The beautiful northern lights in Sweden over a snowy plain. Scientifically, the northern lights are created by eruptions of the sun in which large amounts of charged particles are hurled into the universe. These are called solar storms. The northern lights are 100 to 150 kilometres above us and can have different colours. The Vikings explained this natural phenomenon as the glittering armour of mythological battle goddesses. A Finnish legend talks about a fox running through the snow and making sparks and colours with its tail. According to the Danes, it is a swan race. And the Sami and Inuit see our ancestors in it.
