This watercolour depicts a total atmosphere of the Texel landscape in De Koog with the North Sea, the beach, the dunes, the heathland, the forest and the dynamics in the village itself. The soft colours of the watercolour, combined with the somewhat harder drawn lines, make the distinction between the different pieces clear, providing context but also contrast.
If you have ever been to Texel and certainly to De Koog, you will recognise the tranquillity of nature but also the salty and bustling and dynamic (especially in summer) of tourism, among other things. It's a lovely place to be, if I do say so myself.
It is the stillness and yet also the liveliness in nature, but also around it.
