By the end of the day, all the heavy rain clouds had been blown away by the wind and we got to see this amazing sunset. The shot was taken about 10 minutes after sunset and the long exposure time gives a nice milky effect to the water. This shot was taken at the Valkenburg Lake recreation area. The Valkenburg Lake is a recreational lake and sand reclamation site near the core of Valkenburg and the adjacent Vliegkamp Valkenburg in the Dutch municipality of Katwijk. The lake was created in the 1950s by sand extraction for limestone for the construction industry. The National Narrow Gauge Railway Museum is located here where one can take a ride along the lake on a steam tram. The area has a recreational function for the region, including for the neighbouring Stevenshof, a district in the municipality of Leiden. Valkenburg Lake is also an important nature reserve.
