About ‘Astoria’ by Jeroen de Jongh Photography

Building Astoria is a monumental Jugendstil building at Keizersgracht 174-176 in Amsterdam, built in 1904-1905 by order of, and as head office for, the First Dutch Life Insurance Bank. The building, on the corner of Keizersgracht and Leliegracht, later served as the headquarters of Greenpeace for 15 years. In 2001 it was designated a national monument.

With six floors and a maximum height of 37 metres, the Astoria building was one of the first office towers in the Netherlands. The building was designed by H.H. Baanders and Gerrit van Arkel. Both architects designed many buildings in Amsterdam in a for them typical sober, Dutch version of the Jugendstil, later to become known as the New Art.

The building has a copper-covered roof with a turret and a decorative iron ridge fence in which the golden letters EHLB (for Eerste Hollandsche Levensverzekerings Bank) are incorporated. The mosaic high on the facade shows a guardian angel with two other figures.

The building is part of the same block as the Anne Frank House.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
