Beautiful tree stump on knoll in the woods of Landgoed Duno near Doorwerth Castle. So artfully shaped, how beautifully nature can shape itself....
Landgoed Duno or Duunoog is a country estate in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It originated from 1800 as a landscape park with a gazebo, tea dome, rosarium and greenhouses, belvedere and rockeries.
It is located south of Doorwerth on a lateral ridge on the Rhine. Near the Duno is the ring walburg the Hunnenschans, which has been an archaeological national monument since 1965 (Wikipedia).
I wanted to take another photo of this last week with even better resolution, but unfortunately the ravages of time have taken this work of art out of commission. Only the last remnants are still discernible on the ground.
But luckily we still have the photos's, so take that chance!
