This photo shows the monumental façade of the Arena sports hall in Deurne, designed by Renaat Braem. I chose a clean, frontal composition to do full justice to the symmetry and rhythm of the design. The curved white support structure contrasts sharply with the dark sky, making the lines speak even louder. The glass rhythm and vertical concrete ribs create an almost graphic pattern. By waiting for the right time of day, the light fell evenly across the façade, without disturbing shadows. The black-and-white editing enhances abstraction and emphasises form over function. Every detail was carefully worked out in the post-processing, right down to the fine structures in the concrete and steel. The hall detaches from its surroundings and becomes an autonomous object. What struck me was the silence and strength the building exuded at that moment. This image is my interpretation of Braem's vision: sleek, social, but above all timeless.
