About the artwork
'The city of arts and sciences', is the literal translation of 'Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències'. Beautiful architecture by architect Calatrava in Valencia Spain. The picture is part of a large complex consisting of three buildings, all with their own function and shape but between them they fit together nicely. The main colour is white mosaic, and there is a lot of water around it which is turquoise, all this gives a very sunny, fresh look which is reflected in the photo. A lot of organic shapes, lines, shading of it can also be seen in the photo. The lady with the red dress approached and I waited for a nice moment to take the photo. I wanted to impart a soft pastel-like atmosphere with yet powerful lines and shadows. A combination of sunny but also cool because of the colouring and shadows. I always post-process my photos'in Photoshop to make them as 'neat' but also beautiful as possible, this always takes a lot of time but is also something I really enjoy doing, for me it then always becomes a 'work of art' rather than a photo taken in a second.
