Arches National Park is a United States national park located in the north of the Colorado Plateau on the Colorado River north of the town of Moab in the US state of Utah. It preserves the world's largest concentration of natural arches, which are constantly being created and disappearing through erosion and weathering. Over 2000 arches with an opening of at least 90 cm (3 feet) have been recorded in the park area. The ecosystems of the park, which covers more than 300 km², range from the banks of the Colorado River to bare rock and are characterised by the average altitude of around 1500 m above sea level in a desert climate.
