Renowned for its extensive apple orchards, Normandy is an important centre for apple and cider growing in Europe, thanks in part to its mild maritime climate and fertile soil.
Visitors can taste apples and cider, explore orchards, and take part in harvesting activities, as seen on the Cider Route in the Pays d'Auge.
Several campsites and gîtes are even located amid orchards, and there are festivals such as the apple and cider festival in Conches-en-Ouche.
In this region, apples are made into cider, pommeau and calvados.
