About ‘Amersfoort Netherland, Muurhuizen’ by Dick Kattestaart
Amersfoort has in its history two enclosures. The first wall was built between the late 13th century (after being granted city status in 1259) and early 14th century. The second wall was built in the period 1380-1451. At the site of the first city wall 'wall houses' were built with parts and loose stones of the first wall.
