Adela’s Hill-star (Oreotrochilus Adelæ), John Gould This is one of the many novelties which rewarded the researches of M. D’Orbigny, who figured it for the first time in his fine work, the “Voyage dans l’Amérique Meéridionale,” and who states that he met with it in one instance only, on the dry and arid mountains in the neighbourhood of Chuquisaca in Bolivia, where it flies among the rocks and perches upon the loftiest plants. This illustration has been restored to its original vibrancy by enhancing colors and removing unwanted marks. A monograph of the Trochilidæ, or family of humming-birds was published between 1849 and 1887 by English ornithologist John Gould. This monumental work depicts and describes all the known species of hummingbirds at the time - comprising 418 lithographic plates and information on 537 species."
