Abstract girl with the pearl | After the work of Johannes Vermeer
This painting is an abstract translation of the Girl with a Pearl Earring by one of Holland's greatest masters of painting. The original from the 17th century has been cited so many times, we know it so well, that we only need a slight similarity to it, to recognize the work as such. As you can see in this work, you no longer need the face.
I always enjoy playing with those boundaries. Abstraction and the portrait go hand in hand. As do light and dark, inspired by the 17th century chiaroscuro.
