This explosion of colour and layering was created completely intuitively, without a plan, without rules. Abstract Village Pattern is the result of playing, searching, feeling. I started with a turquoise-green base, a kind of mysterious landscape in which gates, passages and shapes slowly presented themselves.
With oil pastels and acrylic paint, I put layer upon layer. Pink, orange, red and sunny yellow appeared in half ovals - some kind of gates, houses, maybe even people? As if an abstract village was forming, one that exists only in your imagination.
The process was everything: I followed my hands, my powerful combinations of colours and my desire for contrast. The result feels like a happy, dreamy world full of movement and energy.
This composition pops off the wall, but also invites you to discover something new each time. Do you see the gates too? Or are they flower petals? Or just fields of colour dancing with each other?
For me, this work is an ode to intuition and freedom.
