About ‘Abandoned’ by Sander van der Werf
Broken window in a dilapidated house. In the Swedish village of Murjek, above the Arctic Circle, about half the houses are empty. Many of these have been abandoned for some time and have fallen into considerable disrepair. Broken windows, peeling paint, vanished porches and overgrown gardens create a haunting, desolate atmosphere.

Sander van der Werf (1973) studied illustration at the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen.
