Abandoned mining seaside town in England, Cornwall
The natural landscape with marshes and rocky coasts was changed in the 18th and 19th centuries by copper and tin mines. Steam power was first used here when people like Thomas Savery, Thomas Newcomen and Richard Trevithick developed steam engines in the area. Since the closure of the mines, the landscape has been dotted with ruins of machine houses.
