About the artwork

This work in black and white shows a very long hallway in the Central Market Hall in Amsterdam. The hall is being converted for reuse. The hall, which dates from 1920, is being made more sustainable. On the complex where the Central Market Hall stands, the new Marktkwartier residential district is going to rise with 1800 homes. The photo was taken during Open Monument Day 2022.

About image maker Peter Bartelings: as a born and raised Amsterdammer, he is closely connected to the city of Amsterdam. Besides the large Amsterdam collection, he also makes work of other cities in the Netherlands, such as Haarlem, Groningen, Zwolle, Leiden, Delft, etc. In addition, Peter has also done a lot of work in France and Germany.
