I discovered this abandoned old farm barn in the district of Märkisch-Oderland on the evening of 7 March 2019. Wide fields and farmland as far as the eye can see, a harmonious, peaceful natural landscape that truly provides relaxation and deceleration. The lonely barn lends the natural motif a mystical and poetic atmosphere.
The picture was taken with the NIKON D90 camera (lens: SIGMA 18.0-70.0 mm f/3.5-4.5).
Isolated farmsteads, small hamlets and few people: sometimes the Oderbruch seems a little removed from the world. Perhaps that's why the area is attracting more and more people.
Here in the district of Märkisch-Oderland, you can find peace and quiet, unwind and enjoy unique landscapes. At just two to five metres above sea level, the region is the lowest-lying corner of Brandenburg. Between Oderberg and Lebus, however, the inland delta is bordered by areas up to 100 metres high. From here, excursionists have a perfect view of this fascinating region!
After being drained in the 18th century, the Oderbruch developed into one of the most interesting small landscapes in Europe. It was not for nothing that the landscape was nominated for the European Heritage Label in 2020, which was awarded in 2022. This makes the Oderbruch the first cultural landscape to be awarded the seal of cultural heritage. Ideals and the history of the EU are symbolised here in a special way.
