More object details Van der Mijn, born in Amsterdam, arrived in London via Düsseldorf and Antwerp, where he built a successful career with finely painted portraits and tableaux. These almost always depict a female figure in a landscape, sometimes with a reference to a story from the Bible or classical mythology. It is not known whether this woman too is a religious or mythological figure.
