A radiant square with drops in natural colors

by Marjolijn van den Berg

"A radiant little square with droplets in natural colours" is an (extreme) macro photograph of a dandelion fluff, set against a beige-brown (light wood-coloured) background. Water droplets hang from the fluff.

This work has a very calm, dreamy atmosphere and there is also a sense of depth to it. This is because I chose a shallow depth of field for this photograph.
The point of focus is where the stem merges into the fluff. The droplets also help to create this dreamy atmosphere; they reflect the light, causing sparkles to appear on the droplets.

This photograph was taken with a more extreme macro lens than is normally used. This magnifies the subject even further, allowing you to see elements you’ve probably never seen before: can you, for example, see the ‘tiny hooks’ attached to the hairs of the fluff? ‘The wonderful world of extreme macro photography’.
This piece would look particularly good in a rustic or minimalist interior style.
Thanks to the simplicity and tranquillity of this photograph, it would be perfect in a minimalist or Scandinavian interior, for example. This piece would look stunning as wall art in the bedroom on an ArtFrame above the bed, as wallpaper in the hall to create a beautiful entrance, or simply above the sofa in the living room on aluminium, for instance! It would also look lovely on the wall in a meeting room (business setting).
