This sculpture was taken in the Landshaftspark Duisburg-Nord. It is a metal part of a large construction. The main issue here is the lines in the composition. You see an X with a vertical line in the middle, the background is the sky. The sunlight comes from the left and illuminates the metal which runs as a diagonal line from bottom left to top right. The space on the right is wider than on the left. The vertical line, the centre of the X, runs one-third of the image. The sky behind the metal is a bit dramatic and not uniformly blue but has darker and lighter parts, which differ in colour.
The old blast furnaces at the Landshaftspark consist of many parts that sometimes make you lose sight of the forest for the trees. I looked for simplicity, minimalism in the busy whole. The light falling on the metal keeps it from becoming a dark silhouette and makes it more interesting to look at.
The work will look beautiful in a modern and sleek interior.
