About the artwork

This digital artwork consists of four colourful, cartoon-like panels that together tell the story of a life. The style is simple and clear, with thick black outlines and bright, solid colours.

On the top left, we see a young couple in a romantic setting. In the background are historic canal houses and a church tower, reminiscent of Utrecht, the Dom city. The two look at each other lovingly, their bodies facing each other. This moment breathes infatuation and the beginning of a journey together.

Above right, the same persons are older, together with three young children. The background again shows characteristic houses along the waterfront. Their faces radiate contentment: this is the phase of family life and caring for children.

Bottom left, we see the middle-aged couple in a bed and breakfast room. They sit next to each other on the bed, holding hands, in a quiet and intimate atmosphere. This scene suggests togetherness and shared memories.

Below right, the couple is clearly elderly. The man wears a hat, the woman glasses. They are sitting on a bench in the green, with a house and a sign saying "Zeist" in the background, possibly their hometown or a destination full of meaning. Their faces show peace and connection, being together in the last stage of life.
