This digital artwork shows a hushed, almost surreal scene in which three identical cyclists traverse an endless, uniformly grey road under a bright blue, cloudless summer sky. The sky is taut, like a blank canvas that invites the viewer to reflect. Each rider wears an old-fashioned bicycle helmet and rides a perfectly preserved Gazelle race bike from the 1970s. The bikes, with their classic steel frame, thin tyres and shiny chrome details, form a nostalgic contrast to the timeless landscape.
The three figures are exactly alike: body posture, facial expression, clothing and shadows coincide completely, as if they were clones - or perhaps three moments of the same person in constant repetition. This raises questions about individuality, repetition and time. Are they really moving forward, or caught in a loop? The monotonous grey road with no markings or obstacles emphasises this sense of directionlessness.
The absence of visual noise - no clouds, no background, no traffic - draws all attention to the riders and their movement. The image is stationary, but exudes speed and perseverance. The clear summer sky above their heads seems infinite, but offers no grip. Balancing between nostalgia and alienation, the work invites contemplation of the relationship between man, machine and the elusive progression of time.
